The Logistics Officer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day logistics operations, including coordination of transportation, documentation, customs clearance, and warehouse activities. The role ensures the accurate and timely movement of goods while complying with company procedures, cost targets, and regulatory requirents.
Key Responsibilities Logistics Operations
- Coordinate the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods in coordination with warehouse and transport teams.
- Track and follow up on import and export shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Support in booking shipments with freight forwarders and shipping lines.
- Follow up internal teams (Procurement, Finance, and Operations) to align shipment schedules and requirements.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare or verify shipping documents (B/L, COO, invoices, packing lists, etc.) for both import and export shipments.
- Ensure documentation accuracy for customs clearance and compliance with trade regulations.
- Maintain updated shipment and logistics records in the system.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, transporters, and customs brokers to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow up on shipment readiness, delivery schedules, and service performance.
- Escalate operational issues to the Senior Logistics Officer or Manager when needed.
Cost Control & Reporting
- Support in collecting and reviewing freight and transport invoices for accuracy.
- Assist in monitoring logistics expenses and identifying cost variances.
- Prepare periodic reports on shipment status and logistics KPIs.
Team & Process Support
- Assist in day-to-day coordination between warehouse, transport, and documentation teams.
- Participate in internal and cross-functional meetings as required.
- Ensure smooth flow of logistics information and timely task completion.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or shipping operations, preferably within the UAE or GCC.
- Experience with freight forwarding, customs documentation, and warehouse coordination preferred.
- Basic understanding of import/export procedures and Incoterms.
- Familiarity with customs clearance and logistics documentation.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office applications.
- Good organizational and coordination skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
