Job Title: Logistic Operation Coordinator
Department: Transportation & Material
Reports To: Equipment and Logistic Manager
FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
SUMMARY
The Logistics Coordinator plans, prices, and manages the movement of materials and trucks. In a team effort with the Logistics Dispatcher, they will be responsible for ensuring loads/materials are being delivered effectively. This role partners with Project Managers and Superintendents to forecast material needs, price and schedule haul routes, secure sources for aggregates and soils, and coordinate the sale and transport of excess material. They also must prepare reports detailing the effectiveness of the fleet, developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Establishing efficient routes and transportation schedules

Monitoring Drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices

Collect tickets from drivers and provide to Logistic Dispatcher for processing

Providing reports to management on scheduling and material needs

Developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency

Managing truck drivers’ schedules and routes

Documenting all calls, deliveries, routes and times for pickups and deliveries

Handling customer complaints and inquiries

Negotiating rates and delivery timelines

Analyze origin/destination, distances, load limits, and cycle times to price haul routes and recommend most cost-effective options (company fleet vs. brokered haulers).

Build haul schedules with time windows, gate hours, and equipment availability; maintain a daily/weekly logistics plan.

Lead 1–3-week look-ahead logistics meetings with PMs/Supers to align on upcoming cut/fill, import/export, and material placements.

Knowledge of trucking regulations and laws

Understanding of how shipping, trucking, and logistics work

Analytical skills to problem-solve and coordinate difficult situations

Ability to handle upset customers

Strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to stay calm in fast-paced situations

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED.

Bachelor's or associate degree in transportation or logistics would be advantageous.

2-3 years of experience as a truck dispatcher or logistics in a similar industry.

Extensive experience in customer services, as well as generating freight bills and invoices.

Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
Communication Skills:

Ability to follow verbal and written instruction and communicate effectively.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities

Excellent communication skills to clearly relay information to all involved parties
Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals to compute rate, ration, percent.
Reasoning Ability:
Requires independent judgement and conscious thinking.
Computer Skills:

Ability to use iPad, smartphone and computer.

Ability to use Windows operating systems and associated software.

Working knowledge of dispatch management software.

Work Schedule and Environment
Work is typically performed between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., averaging 40–50 hours per week. Occasional overtime, weekends, or holidays may be required based on operational needs.
