Position - Logistics and Procurement Manager

Position Overview

Medical Network of Alaksa is seeking an experienced Logistics and Procurement Manager to oversee the strategic sourcing, procurement, and distribution operations for our medical group. This role is critical in ensuring seamless supply chain management across multiple healthcare facilities while maintaining cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, and quality standards. The successful candidate will manage vendor relationships, optimize inventory processes, and support the operational needs of our affiliated medical practices.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Management

  • Develop and execute strategic procurement plans for medical supplies, equipment, pharmaceuticals, and administrative materials across all MNA locations
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and distributors to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service levels
  • Conduct market research and vendor evaluations to identify cost-saving opportunities and innovative solutions
  • Manage the RFP/RFQ process for major purchases and service contracts
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with healthcare regulations, including FDA requirements and group purchasing organization (GPO) guidelines

Supply Chain & Logistics Operations

  • Design and optimize inventory management systems to minimize waste while ensuring adequate stock levels
  • Coordinate distribution and delivery schedules across multiple practice locations
  • Implement and maintain inventory tracking systems and automated reordering processes
  • Oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and distribution of medical and office supplies
  • Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions and emergency procurement needs

Vendor & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, distributors, and service providers
  • Monitor vendor performance against established KPIs and service level agreements
  • Resolve supplier issues and coordinate with accounts payable for timely payment processing
  • Evaluate new vendors and products to expand supplier base and improve service quality

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all procured items meet regulatory standards and organizational quality requirements
  • Maintain proper documentation for audit purposes and regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure medical supplies and equipment meet safety and efficacy standards
  • Implement policies and procedures for controlled substance procurement and inventory management

Budget & Cost Management

  • Develop and manage annual procurement budgets across all MNA locations
  • Monitor spending patterns and provide regular cost analysis and reporting to senior management
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or service
  • Track and report on key performance metrics including cost savings, inventory turnover, and supplier performance

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and develop a team of procurement and logistics professionals
  • Collaborate with practice administrators, clinical directors, and finance teams to understand operational needs
  • Provide training and support to practice staff on proper inventory management and procurement procedures
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives and contribute to organizational growth objectives

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement and logistics management, preferably in healthcare or medical services
  • Managing multi-location operations and complex supply chains
  • Knowledge of medical/pharmaceutical supply chain regulations and compliance requirements

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in ERP systems, inventory management software, and procurement platforms
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with data analysis and reporting tools
  • Familiarity with healthcare-specific systems such as electronic health records (EHR) integration

Professional Competencies

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Project management experience with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in healthcare (FDA, DEA, OSHA, Joint Commission)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in relevant field or professional certification (CPSM, CSCP, or similar)
  • Experience with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and healthcare consortiums
  • Background in lean management or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Previous MSO or healthcare management company experience
  • Experience with specialty medical equipment procurement and maintenance contracts

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Office-based position with occasional travel to practice locations and vendor sites
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds when reviewing inventory or equipment
  • Extended periods of computer work and data analysis
  • May require occasional after-hours availability for urgent procurement needs
