Logistics Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for organizing and optimizing outbound freight, managing carrier relationships, overseeing intercompany transfers, and ensuring timely and cost-effective deliveries. This role ensures visibility, accuracy, and efficiency in all logistics activities through clear communication, scheduling, and system updates.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Run reports for all open orders by carrier to evaluate and consolidate loads.
  • Obtain freight quotes and compare Less-than-Truckload (LTL) vs. Full Truckload (FTL) options for optimal cost and efficiency.
  • Request and follow up on rate quotes from carriers via email.
  • Update carrier assignment and rate information in ERP I system after loads are awarded.
  • Notify awarded carriers via email with load confirmation details.
  • Coordinate retrieval of inventory from storage locations as needed to support outbound shipments.
  • Prepare and maintain the outbound shipping schedule in Microsoft Teams, logging all carrier appointments.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to carrier inquiries related to appointments and shipment details.
  • Communicate schedule updates or changes to the shipping team and ensure alignment by updating the shared Teams schedule for real-time visibility.
  • Attend and lead a weekly logistics coordination meeting with other plants to align on intercompany transfers and pickups.
  • Manage the company driver’s schedule to ensure all intercompany and plant-to-plant orders are documented and scheduled in Teams.
  • Oversee all intercompany transactions, including the delivery of ingredients and finished goods.
  • Enter all ingredient orders needed for other plants and ensure timely driver scheduling for these deliveries.
  • Coordinate and hire external carriers when the company driver is unavailable to avoid service disruption.


Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in logistics coordination, transportation, or supply chain operations.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (VAI experience preferred).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Attributes:

  • Knowledge of freight modes, logistics scheduling, and shipping documentation.
  • Experience working with LTL, FTL, and intercompany freight coordination.
  • Ability to manage schedules, analyze logistics data, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • English – Spanish Bilingual
