Logistics Coordinator / Dispatcher

Job Summary

Duties

• Coordinate daily dispatching activities for freight movement, ensuring optimal routing and scheduling using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
• Communicate with drivers, carriers, warehouse teams, and clients via multi-line phone systems and phone etiquette to confirm pickups, deliveries, and resolve any issues promptly.
• Utilize GPS and GIS tools for real-time tracking of fleet vehicles, monitoring progress to meet delivery deadlines efficiently.
• Input and manage data entry related to shipments, freight details, shipping & receiving logs, and dispatch records with high accuracy.
• Oversee shipping schedules using transportation planning software; adjust plans as needed based on traffic conditions or unforeseen delays.
• Maintain comprehensive records of freight movements, fleet management activities, and logistics documentation in systems like AS400 and Oracle Transportation Management.
• Collaborate with 3PL (third-party logistics) providers to coordinate shipments, track deliveries, and resolve logistical challenges swiftly.
• Support inventory management through shipping & receiving coordination, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with safety standards.

Skills

• Strong analysis skills to interpret GPS data, GIS maps, and transportation metrics for effective decision-making.
• Proficiency with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine for planning and tracking shipments.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with drivers, vendors, clients, and internal teams professionally via multi-line phone systems.
• Exceptional data entry abilities with attention to detail in managing shipping logs, freight details, and dispatch records.
• Knowledge of freight operations including shipping & receiving procedures and fleet management practices.
• Familiarity with logistics concepts such as supply chain management, transportation planning, and 3PL coordination.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining high levels of organization under pressure.
