The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily traffic of HFL marine transportation assets and satisfying our contractual obligations to HFL customers. The Logistics Coordinator works with the Operations Department to ensure operational and customer expectations and met, and all vessels and barges are operated in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with governmental and company policies and procedures.
This is a rotational 12-hour shift position consisting of 7 days on and 7 days off. This position is located at our Canonsburg, PA office and reports to the Director of Logistics - River.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Optimize the utilization of all marine transportation assets to meet customer service, productivity, and safety objectives, while identifying sales opportunities to maximize fleet utilization.
- Plan and carry out daily dispatching needs, prepare vessel orders, and provide timely job status updates to ensure efficient operations and excellent customer service.
- Coordinate with vendors to accomplish customer and equipment utilization goals cost-effectively, including reviewing invoices and generating customer statements.
- Analyze key metrics related to productivity, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiencies.
- Identify sales opportunities to optimize the use of the fleet.
- Gather, analyze, and disseminate industry-related data on markets, river conditions, and other relevant information.
- Communicate daily traffic updates to internal and external customers.
- Ensure contractual obligations are met per customer requirements.
- Manage company risks related to marine operations, including claims, equipment damage, and safety issues.
- Collect, manage, and communicate effectively about marine incidents and equipment damage.
- Travel to various landing and customer locations in Western Pennsylvania, with occasional overnight stays; Periodic after-hours and on-call responsibilities.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Motivated individual with the ability to multitask.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft suite applications and other software.
- Detail and task oriented.
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
- Basic geographical knowledge of the US inland waterways and rivers.
- Strong organizational skills.
Physical Capabilities:
- Carry, push, pull or move 10 pounds regularly, or up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Ability to sit up to 8 hours per day
