Logistics Coordinator Intern

SUMMARY

The Logistics Intern will support day-to-day operations within the supply chain and logistics department during the summer term. This role is designed for a college student interested in gaining hands on experience in transportation, inventory management, warehouse operations, and process improvement. The intern will work closely with warehouse teams, and cross functional departments to help ensure efficient product flow and accurate data management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensure day-to-day shipping tasks are completed including but not limited to creating bills and all other transportation paperwork to facilitate shipments

· Source transportation companies to support business needs

· Coordinate with transportation companies to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments occur

· Support negotiations with suppliers on pricing, availability and delivery terms

· Support the plants in material movement transactions

· Ensure on-time delivery of goods by working closely with suppliers, carriers and other stakeholders

· Track and monitor inbound/outbound shipments to support continuous flow of materials

· Analyze freight costs to ensure we are using the most cost-effective strategies

· Develop processes to streamline supply chain operations and reduce costs

· Maintain accurate records of all transactions and activities across multiple systems

· Identify areas of improvement within the supply chain process

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of:

· Inventory management, supply chain, and manufacturing processes

· ERP/MRP systems (SAP Business One preferred)

· Microsoft Excel and general administrative systems

· Administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, etc

· Sourcing carriers via multiple avenues

Skills:

· Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

· Analytical and problem-solving abilities using logic and reasoning

Ability to:

· Manage multiple tasks and interruptions with composure

· Maintain confidentiality and use discretion

QUALIFICATIONS

· Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, Business, or a related field required

· Experience in purchasing, scheduling, or supply chain role (manufacturing preferred)

· Experience with SAP Business One or similar ERP/MRP systems strongly preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Much of the work consists of conveying information verbally and in writing and working on a computer while sitting or standing for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit, stand, and walk; use a finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands; talk and hear; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee occasionally may need to transport himself or herself to another office location in mild to inclement weather. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
