Logistics Engineer – Fabrication Shop
Job Purpose
To plan, coordinate, and control inbound & outbound logistics for fabricated materials, raw materials, and finished goods, ensuring on-time dispatch, safe handling, cost optimization, and compliance with statutory and customer requirements.
Inbound Logistics (Raw Material & Bought-Out Items)
- Plan and monitor inward movement of:
- Plates, pipes, sections, beams, angles
- Bought-out items, fittings, valves, fasteners
- Coordinate with:
- Purchase
- Stores
- Transporters
- Ensure timely unloading, proper stacking, and yard utilization
- Verify delivery challans, LR, and inward quality documentation
Outbound Logistics (Fabricated & Machined Items)
- Plan dispatch of:
- Structural steel
- Pressure vessels
- Skids
- Fabricated assemblies
- Coordinate with Production & Planning for dispatch readiness
- Arrange suitable vehicles:
- Trailers, flatbeds, hydraulic axles
- Ensure proper:
- Packing
- Lashing
- Marking
- Achieve on-time dispatch as per project schedule
Dispatch Planning & Control
- Prepare daily / weekly dispatch plans
- Monitor dispatch versus plan
- Coordinate with customers, project sites, and erection teams
- Handle short shipment, re-dispatch, and emergency movements
Transportation & Cost Control
- Finalize transporters & negotiate freight rates
- Optimize route planning and vehicle utilization
- Control logistics cost per ton / per trip
- Track freight bills and support accounts for reconciliation
Statutory & Documentation Compliance
- Ensure compliance for:
- E-way bills
- Road permits
- ODC movement permissions
- Insurance documents
- Maintain dispatch documents:
- Invoice
- Packing list
- LR / GR
- Test certificates (as applicable)
Yard & Material Movement Management
- Plan internal movement using:
- Cranes
- Forklifts
- Trailers
- Ensure safe handling of heavy & oversized materials
- Improve yard layout for smooth material flow
MIS Reporting
- Update daily logistics data
- Prepare reports:
- Dispatch status
- Vehicle utilization
- Freight cost analysis
- Delay analysis (root cause)
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to HSE norms during:
- Loading & unloading
- Lashing operations
- Conduct toolbox talks for drivers & rigging teams
- Ensure zero damage and zero incident target
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with:
- Production
- Planning
- Stores
- Quality
- Finance
- Liaise with customers, transporters, and local authorities

Experience
- 3–8 years experience in logistics for fabrication / heavy engineering / EPC / structural steel industry
- Exposure to project dispatch, heavy loads, trailers, and ODC movement
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
