The Logistics & Freight Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing United Ag’s freight transportation activities, vendor coordination, compliance documentation, and freight-related financial processes. This role ensures the efficient movement of agricultural products and materials by managing carrier relationships, coordinating logistics operations, and maintaining compliance with vendor documentation and insurance requirements.
The Logistics & Freight Operations Manager works closely with operations, accounting, and external transportation partners to support the timely and cost-effective transportation of goods across United Ag locations. This position also plays a key role in coordinating freight activity during seasonal agricultural operations including cotton seed and cotton-related product movement.
In addition to managing day-to-day freight operations, this role is responsible for establishing processes, maintaining vendor relationships, and supporting operational efficiency across the organization.
Education/Certification/ Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred
Valid driver’s license - Required
Strong knowledge of logistics coordination, freight operations, and vendor management
Ability to manage transportation vendors and freight scheduling across multiple locations
Strong organizational and analytical skills related to freight costs and logistics operations
Effective communication and leadership skills when working with operations teams and external vendors
Ability to develop processes and maintain compliance documentation
Strong attention to detail when reviewing invoices, documentation, and vendor records
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational management systems
Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in logistics coordination, freight operations, agricultural operations support, transportation management, or related field preferred
Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Freight Operations Management:
Oversee freight transportation activities supporting United Ag operations.
Coordinate transportation logistics to ensure timely delivery of agricultural products and materials.
Manage relationships with approved freight carriers and transportation vendors.
Maintain an approved vendor list of freight carriers and transportation partners.
Coordinate freight scheduling across locations and operational departments.
Vendor Management & Compliance:
Ensure all transportation vendors maintain required documentation including Certificates of Insurance and compliance records.
Monitor vendor documentation to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory expectations.
Maintain organized vendor records and documentation for freight operations.
Evaluate vendor performance and maintain effective working relationships with freight carriers.
Oversee review and processing of freight invoices.
Ensure freight charges are properly documented and reconciled with vendor statements.
Coordinate with accounting to ensure timely payment of freight expenses.
Monitor freight-related expenses and identify opportunities for operational efficiency.
Agricultural Product Logistics Support:
Coordinate freight logistics related to cotton seed, cotton hulls, and other agricultural products.
Work with operational teams to support seasonal product movement during peak agricultural periods.
Support shipment tracking and coordination for operational departments.
Operational Coordination:
Collaborate with operations leadership to support transportation needs across United Ag locations.
Assist in developing logistics procedures and operational processes for freight coordination.
Provide support during peak seasonal agricultural operations, including harvest-related activity.
Leadership & Process Development
Establish and maintain processes related to freight coordination, vendor documentation, and shipment tracking.
Provide guidance and oversight for freight operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Assist with training and onboarding of staff involved in freight coordination if applicable.
Identify opportunities to improve freight coordination processes and operational efficiency.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management in support of United Ag operations.

The position requires extreme temperatures, ability to climb ladders, inspect equipment, enter operation areas, lifting up to 50 lbs, extending hours during harvest, dust and noise exposure, outdoor/ag facility conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
