Job Description
Title: Logistics & Inventory Manager
Department: 10 - Manufacturing
Reports to: Operations Director
Salary Status: Exempt
Job Summary
The Logistics & Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of materials flow within the manufacturing operation, including inbound logistics, material handling, inventory control, warehousing, and domestic and international shipping. This role ensures materials are received, stored, handled, and shipped efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing daily operational execution with process improvement and strategic planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Logistics & Shipping
- Manage all inbound and outbound freight, including domestic and international shipments
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and suppliers
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, export documentation, and trade requirements
- Negotiate freight rates and monitor transportation costs
- Track shipments and resolve delays, discrepancies, or claims
Material Handling & Warehouse Operations
- Oversee receiving, storage, kitting, staging, and movement of raw materials and finished goods
- Ensure safe and efficient material handling practices
- Maintain warehouse organization, layout optimization, and space utilization
- Implement and enforce safety standards and procedures
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and records within ERP/MRP systems
- Develop and manage cycle count programs and annual physical inventory
- Monitor inventory turns, aging, and obsolescence
- Analyze usage trends and partner with production and purchasing to maintain appropriate stock levels
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce cost
- Develop KPIs related to shipping accuracy, on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and freight costs
- Prepare regular reports for leadership on performance metrics
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
Team Leadership (if applicable)
- Supervise warehouse and shipping personnel
- Provide training, coaching, and performance management
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse, or inventory management within a manufacturing environment
- Experience with international shipping and export compliance required
Traits/Skills required:
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems; NetSuite preferred
- Understanding of import/export regulations and documentation
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Strong communication and vendor management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles a plus
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing and warehouse setting
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent walking, standing, and sitting, typing, bending, lifting, pushing/pulling pallet jacks.
Pay: $100,000.00 per year
