Logistics Professional

Palmetto Electric Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Logistics & Transportation Operations Specialist to support and expand trucking and hauling operations across the Asheville and Fletcher region. This role is ideal for a logistics professional who understands the local warehouse ecosystem, regional freight patterns, and transportation needs and can help generate hauling opportunities while managing day-to-day logistics operations.

The position blends dispatching, load tracking, administrative compliance, equipment scheduling, and business development, ensuring smooth operations and consistent revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Hauling Development

• Build relationships with local warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturers, and freight brokers in the Fletcher/Asheville area.
• Identify and secure new hauling jobs to keep Palmetto Electric’s trucking assets fully utilized.
• Understand regional freight demand, seasonal volume changes, and local shipping needs.

Dispatch & Transportation Coordination

• Dispatch drivers daily, ensuring efficient routing and timely load assignments.
• Track loads in real time, monitor driver progress, and communicate updates to customers and internal teams.
• Maintain organized scheduling for pickups, deliveries, and backhaul opportunities.

Administrative & Compliance Support

• Assist with FUTA tracking and other payroll-related compliance tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of loads, mileage, fuel usage, and driver hours.
• Support DOT compliance, safety documentation, and internal reporting requirements.
• Generate weekly and monthly logistics performance reports.

Equipment & Maintenance Coordination

• Schedule and track maintenance appointments for trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
• Maintain logs for inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance cycles.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers for repairs and parts.

Operational Organization

• Maintain organized dispatch boards, driver schedules, and load calendars.
• Support continuous improvement by documenting processes and identifying operational efficiencies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in logistics, trucking, dispatch, warehouse operations, or transportation coordination.
• Strong knowledge of the Fletcher/Asheville warehouse and freight market.
• Ability to build relationships with local shippers and secure hauling opportunities.
• Experience with dispatching, TMS systems, or fleet management tools (preferred).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work cross-functionally.
• Basic understanding of compliance areas such as DOT, FUTA, and equipment maintenance scheduling.
