Job Overview:

Supervises the Logistics Department as it pertains to ISO yard management, rail yard management, meeting customer requirements, equipment maintenance, training new employees, and improving team dynamics. Manages duties of Heavy Equipment Operators for daily operations and customer orders. Coordinates with customers and partners to understand and fulfill requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assigns duties to heavy equipment operators based on skill, training, equipment, and work demand.
  • Supervises Heavy Equipment Operators, reviews daily timecards, and approves time off.
  • Facilitates training of Heavy Equipment Operators and maintains operator proficiency on all equipment.
  • Sets and maintains standards among Heavy Equipment Operators for equipment operation and processes.
  • Maintains all Logistics Department equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and necessary repairs. Ensures the safe and efficient operation of all Logistics Department equipment.
  • Manages customer orders to completion on a daily basis. Coordinates with customers and partners to streamline operations and customer service.
  • Coordinates with Hydera on the management of the ISO storage yard to streamline operations and improve service to wash bays and maintenance/repair shop.
  • Updates software and spreadsheets to maintain an accurate inventory of railcars and tanks.
  • Manages approved departmental procedures through the management of change (MOC) approval process, and works on joint procedure development with customers.
  • Develops, evaluates, and implements continuous improvement strategies.
  • Develops short- and long-term strategies for standard operating procedures and benchmarking activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Associate degree and/or Certificate in Industrial Work Skills such as industrial maintenance, automated technology, and/or welding is preferred.

Minimum Experience:

5 years of experience with heavy equipment operation or railroad experience.

Certifications & Licenses:

Valid driver’s license is required; CDL is preferred.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

Logistics Foreman and Heavy Equipment Operators

Physical Activity: Possess close visual acuity and acuity to operate machines, motor vehicles, and heavy equipment; ability to climb, walk, finger, grasp, talk, hear, repetitive motion, and exert up to 50lbs of force occasionally, 20lbs frequently, and 10lbs constantly.

Working Conditions: Subject to activities inside and outside, extreme heat for more than one hour, noise levels where one may need to shout to be heard, hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in high places, exposure to high heat, chemicals, fumes, and odors.

Job Type: Full-time

Shift Schedule: Work schedule will be 6:30am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday, and on occasion some additional work hours, weekends, and holidays may be required.
