Long Haul Freight Dispatcher

Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Long Haul Freight Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the efficient movement of freight across long distances. In this vital role, you will serve as the central communication hub between drivers, carriers, clients, and internal teams to ensure timely deliveries and optimal fleet utilization. Your proactive approach and strong organizational skills will drive smooth operations in a fast-paced logistics environment. Duties

• Coordinate long-distance freight shipments by assigning loads to drivers and carriers, ensuring adherence to schedules and delivery windows.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to book and manage freight shipments.
• Maintain real-time communication with drivers via multi-line phone systems, GPS, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and other tracking tools to monitor progress and resolve issues promptly.
• Manage data entry related to shipping & receiving, freight documentation, and dispatch logs with accuracy and efficiency.
• Oversee fleet management activities including vehicle scheduling, GPS tracking, and compliance with safety regulations.
• Collaborate with 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) providers, warehouse teams, and shipping & receiving departments to coordinate seamless freight flow.
• Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements within the supply chain and transportation planning processes.
• Uphold professional phone etiquette and clear communication skills when interacting with clients, drivers, vendors, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in dispatching or transportation planning within a logistics or freight environment.
• Familiarity with GPS, GIS technology, fleet management software, and shipping & receiving procedures.
• Excellent communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette for effective coordination across multiple channels.
• Ability to perform data entry accurately while managing multiple priorities using multi-line phone systems and other dispatch tools.
• Knowledge of supply chain operations, freight regulations, and logistics best practices.
