POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide individual, small group tutoring and/or classroom support in a sheltered immersion model to students who have been designated as English Language Learners


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completed at least two years of study at an institute of higher education, obtained at least an associate degree or meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to assist in instruction of El students as described under performance responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage student programs under the supervision of a certified staff member.
  • Proficient in English and Spanish or Portuguese
  • Dependable


SKILLS/ABILITY:

  • Experience working in a classroom.
  • Experience/training working with English Learners.

SALARY: $30/hour


CLASSIFICATION: Non-Union


PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

You are required to be physically capable of escorting students from the building in case of a practice drill or emergency situation in a safe and timely fashion.


Must be able to move about the classroom and have the ability to bend, sit or stand frequently.


REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or ELE Director
