Long-Term Substitute Teacher – High School English Language Arts (ELA)

Position Description
SSLCS is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Long-Term Substitute Teacher to serve as a High School English Language Arts (ELA) teacher from January 2026 through the end of March. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting students in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking while providing a positive classroom environment aligned with district expectations.
Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)

Deliver daily instruction for ELA courses according to district curriculum and pacing guides.

Develop lesson plans that promote student engagement and academic growth.

Monitor and assess student learning through formative and summative assessments.

Maintain clear and consistent communication with students, staff, and families.

Use district instructional technology tools to enhance learning and support student success.

Collaborate with department members, intervention specialists, and support staff as needed.

Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grading, and student progress.
Qualifications

Valid Ohio teaching license in English Language Arts (7–12) or appropriate substitute teaching license.

Ability to build positive relationships with students and create a supportive learning environment.

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Prior ELA teaching experience preferred but not required.
Compensation
Per district substitute pay schedule
