Long-Term Third Grade Substitute

Alexandria Country Day School is looking for a dynamic, experienced, and collaborative elementary teacher to serve as a full-time, long-term substitute for third grade from January to June 4, 2026.

The ideal candidate will have:

• at least 3 years of elementary (K-5) classroom teaching experience
• a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• experience with reading and writing workshop models, Fundations, and Singapore Math.
• a collaborative and growth-minded outlook.
• strong written and verbal communication skills.
• a good sense of humor and a positive attitude.
• a genuine understanding and appreciation of this age group.

Duties

• Develop and implement lessons in reading, writing, phonics, math, and science that are developmentally appropriate and responsive to student needs.
• Maintain a positive and strong classroom community through effective classroom management.
• Adapt instruction based on formative feedback to meet student needs and to differentiate for a variety of learners.
• Collaborate with other teachers, learning specialists, and administrators on lesson plans, student assessments, and family communication.
• Contribute positively to the broader school community through faculty professional development, grade level meetings, and community events.
• Contribute positively to the school community by demonstrating professionalism, flexibility, and enthusiasm for teaching.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $150.00 - $250.00 per day
