Loss Prevention Engineer

Loss Prevention Engineer 🔥

We are seeking an experienced Loss Prevention Engineer to support and lead key technical safety activities within Oil & Gas projects. This role involves developing and reviewing safety engineering deliverables, ensuring risk mitigation through design, and supporting all project phases from concept to commissioning in compliance with international standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review technical safety deliverables including loss prevention philosophy, fire protection design basis, and safety criteria.
  • Perform hazardous area classification and ensure compliance of layouts with safety requirements.
  • Design and review fire & gas detection systems as well as active fire protection systems (firewater, deluge, sprinklers).
  • Define passive fire protection requirements such as fireproofing, firewalls, and blast protection.
  • Participate in safety studies including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Review engineering documents such as P&IDs, Cause & Effect diagrams, and safety narratives.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards (API, NFPA, IEC, ISO) and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure proper integration of safety requirements.
  • Support technical evaluations, vendor document reviews, and procurement activities.
  • Provide support during construction and commissioning phases, including resolution of site queries.


Qualifications and Experience

🎓 Education:

Engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, or Safety Engineering.


🌍 Experience:

8–15 years of experience in Oil & Gas EPC projects, with strong exposure to technical safety and loss prevention engineering.

Experience in offshore or large onshore processing facilities is preferred.


💼 Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of fire protection systems and fire & gas detection.
  • Expertise in hazardous area classification and process safety studies.
  • Good understanding of risk assessment methodologies (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA).
  • Familiarity with international standards such as API, NFPA, IEC.
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents and safety deliverables.
  • Strong coordination skills across engineering disciplines.
