Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Low Voltage Designer/Engineer to join our team. This role requires expertise in designing and engineering Low Voltage Systems, including but not limited to Fire Alarm (Temporal 3, Voice Evacuation & Mass Notification), Telecommunications, Audio/Video (A/V), Intercom, Clocks, Paging, Video Surveillance, Intrusion Detection/Duress, Access Control, Electronic Rekey, Nurse Call, Remote Temperature Monitoring Systems, Sound Masking etc. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating detailed design documents, performing load calculations, and ensuring the upkeep and improvement of design-related tools, blocks, standards, and style guides.
Responsibilities
- System Design & Engineering: Design and develop Low Voltage Systems including Fire Alarm, Telecommunications, Audio Video (A/V), Intercom, Clocks, Paging, Video Surveillance, Intrusion Detection/Duress, Access Control, Electronic Rekey, Nurse Call, Remote Temperature Monitoring Systems, and Sound Masking, etc.
- Produce detailed design drawings including floor plans, riser diagrams, interconnect diagrams, and installation details.
- Perform load calculations such as voltage drop, battery standby load, and wattage load to ensure system performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with Director of Engineering/Design Manager, Project Managers, & Sales/Estimators to integrate low voltage systems into overall project designs.
- Documentation & Standards Management: Assist in the maintenance and improve design-related documents, including tools, blocks, standards, and style guides.
- Ensure that all design documentation meets company standards and industry regulations to include code.
- Update design documents as necessary to reflect changes in project requirements or industry best practices.
- Design Workload Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that all design work is completed on time and within budget.
- Communicate effectively with project operations teams (Project Managers) and
- Installation Technicians to ensure that design requirements are understood and met.
- Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases of projects.
- Permitting/coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s).
- Software Utilization: Utilize software tools such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit (preferred but not required) to create and manage design documentation.
Experience
- Proven experience in electrical engineering or low voltage system design within the construction or building services industry.
- Proficiency in CAD drafting tools including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and NavisWorks is essential.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems such as wiring diagrams, schematics, PCB layouts, and system design principles.
- Familiarity with NEC standards related to low voltage wiring, fire alarm systems, security systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and electrical wiring practices.
- Experience working on construction projects from initial design through installation phases is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of schematic development for various electrical systems including audiovisual, data communication networks, access control, CCTV surveillance, and intercoms.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
