Recore Electrical Contractors is seeking a Low Voltage Superintendent to oversee the installation, coordination, and completion of low-voltage systems on construction projects. These systems typically include data/telecom, security, fire alarm, audio-visual, access control, and other communication systems. Below is a typical job description used by contractors and integrators.


The Low Voltage Superintendent is responsible for supervising field operations related to the installation of low-voltage systems. This role manages technicians and subcontractors, coordinates with general contractors and other trades, ensures quality installation, maintains project schedules, and enforces safety standards.


Key Responsibilities

Field Supervision

  • Supervise daily activities of low-voltage technicians and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate installation of systems such as:
    • Structured cabling
    • Fiber optic networks
    • Security and surveillance systems
    • Access control systems
    • Intercom and paging systems
    • Audio/visual systems
  • Ensure installations meet project specifications, drawings, and industry standards.

Project Coordination

  • Work closely with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to coordinate installation schedules.
  • Attend construction coordination meetings.
  • Review blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings before installation begins.
  • Plan manpower and material needs for each phase of the project.

Quality Control

  • Inspect installations to ensure compliance with codes and company standards.
  • Verify proper cable routing, labeling, termination, and testing.
  • Ensure systems are tested, documented, and ready for commissioning.

Safety Management

  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Identify and mitigate jobsite hazards.

Scheduling & Productivity

  • Maintain project schedule and track installation progress.
  • Ensure crews meet deadlines and productivity targets.
  • Report delays or issues to project management.

Documentation

  • Maintain daily reports and field logs.
  • Track change orders and field modifications.
  • Ensure as-built drawings and documentation are completed.

Customer & Contractor Relations

  • Act as the primary field contact for general contractors and clients.
  • Resolve field issues and maintain professional relationships.


Required Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of experience in low-voltage systems installation.
  • 2–5 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA)
    • Fiber optics
    • Security systems
    • Access control
  • Ability to read construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • BICSI - TE350

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications (e.g., BICSI, manufacturer certifications).
  • Experience managing large commercial projects.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • BICSI - TE350


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work on construction sites.
  • Climb ladders and lifts.
  • Lift and carry equipment (typically up to 50 lbs).
  • Work in ceilings, mechanical rooms, and outdoor environments.
