Low Voltage Technician

As a Low Voltage Technician, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the safety, security, and operational efficiency of our clients’ facilities through expert system installation and maintenance. Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot low voltage systems such as CCTV surveillance, access control, fire alarms, sensors, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and telecommunication networks.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to ensure precise system setup and integration.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security systems, sensors, cabling infrastructure, and power supplies to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools safely to perform cabling runs, device mounting, and system upgrades in construction or retrofit projects.
  • Diagnose system issues using remote access software and field service techniques; document findings thoroughly for resolution or escalation.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to design system layouts that meet security requirements while adhering to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
  • Provide exceptional field service by troubleshooting on-site problems swiftly while maintaining high safety standards.
  • Assist in alarm system sales by advising clients on suitable low voltage solutions tailored to their needs.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of computer networking principles necessary for configuring networked security devices and remote access solutions.
  • Mechanical knowledge for installing hardware components securely within various environments.
  • Proven experience as a service technician working with surveillance cameras (CCTV), alarm systems, sensors, locks, and fire alarm systems.
  • Ability to read schematics accurately and translate them into effective wiring and installation practices.
  • Familiarity with security system components including IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), sensors, CCTV cameras, access control devices, and alarm panels.
  • Proficiency with hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers; power tools including drills and saws for construction-related tasks.
  • Electrical experience related to cabling infrastructure, NEC compliance standards, power supplies, grounding techniques, and electrical safety protocols.
  • Experience with telecommunication cabling (fiber optics or copper), remote access software for troubleshooting remotely connected systems.
  • Knowledge of locksmithing basics for integrating lock hardware into security solutions.
  • Ability to interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams for complex low voltage systems design.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills combined with proactive communication to ensure customer satisfaction during field service calls. Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
