Antilles School seeks a dynamic and student-centered Lower School Librarian to join a collaborative faculty committed to whole-child education. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator who fosters a love of reading, inquiry, and research while supporting a diverse community of learners.
The Lower School Librarian plays a key role in cultivating an engaging and inclusive library program that encourages students to become enthusiastic readers, critical thinkers, and ethical users of information. This role partners closely with faculty to support curriculum, integrates research and information literacy skills across grade levels, and maintains a vibrant, developmentally appropriate collection of print and digital resources.

Core Responsibilities:
Develop and lead a dynamic Lower School library program that promotes literacy, inquiry, and a love of reading
Design and deliver developmentally appropriate library instruction, including foundational research and information literacy skills
Foster a welcoming and engaging library environment that supports diverse learning styles and encourages student exploration
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support literacy curriculum, including designing and delivering lessons that reinforce and align with grade-level literacy skills and standards
Curate and maintain a current, diverse, and developmentally appropriate collection of print and digital resources
Ensure the library collection supports classroom curriculum and student interests
Evaluate, select, and manage library materials and resources in alignment with best practices in library science
Partner with classroom teachers to support curriculum through resource selection, research instruction, and collaborative planning
Support faculty in integrating library resources and research skills into classroom instruction
Maintain a strong understanding of curriculum and student developmental stages to effectively support instructional needs
Promote a school-wide culture of reading through events, programming, and initiatives
Build positive relationships with students, faculty, and families to support literacy and learning
Support students in becoming responsible and ethical users of information
Collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
Fulfill assigned duties and contribute to the broader life of the school
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Library Science or related field preferred
Previous experience in a school or library setting required
Strong understanding of child development and best practices in literacy and library science
Demonstrated ability to foster a love of reading and inquiry in young learners
Collaborative, student-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills
Ability to partner effectively with faculty and communicate with families
Cultural competence and commitment to inclusive practices
Strong organizational and technology skills
