Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Lowes Dedicated Dispatcher / Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be coordinating driver performance, load planning, and daily fleet execution. This role ensures optimal utilization of equipment and drivers while maintaining high service levels, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with drivers and customer service representatives.
Key Responsibilities
Load Planning & Capacity Management
- Coordinate daily load planning and truck capacity based on company needs and customer demand
- Pre-plan freight based on driver location, current deliveries, and next-day opportunities
- Assign loads based on proximity, hours of service (HOS), availability, and equipment requirements
- Ensure fair and consistent load distribution across the driver group
- Ensure all orders are accurately entered, documented, and include customer-specific instructions
Driver Management & Performance
- Manage and lead an assigned group of drivers to achieve operational and service goals
- Monitor real-time driver status, location, and progress using tracking systems
- Maintain consistent communication with drivers to ensure proper execution and address issues proactively
- Track driver performance, identify risks to service, and implement corrective actions
- Record and manage service failures, detentions, and operational issues
- Provide coaching, feedback, and support to improve driver performance and retention
- Make recommendations regarding hiring, termination, promotion, and advancement of drivers
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the transportation industry, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation and Logistics (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret and analyze data from multiple systems, including electronic messaging formats
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Experience with TMW Suite preferred
- Willingness to participate in ongoing compliance and professional development training
- Ability to work 45+ hours per week
Working Conditions
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods
- Ability to move throughout the office to access equipment and files
- Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, phone use, and other office tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively via phone and electronic systems
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work overtime during peak periods, with or without advance notice
- Ability to meet internal and external training requirements as needed
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports and data
- Ability to travel to other locations for training or operational needs
- Ability to view computer screens for extended periods
- Typing proficiency of at least 30 words per minute
- Ability to work in a moderate to high noise environment
- Ability to manage high-stress situations in a fast-paced environment
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
