Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Charge Nurse to join our healthcare team. The Charge Nurse will play a critical role in overseeing patient care, managing nursing staff, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This position requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to patient safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in long-term care and be knowledgeable about various medical software systems.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure patient confidentiality.
- Implement aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infections.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or other chronic conditions.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Train and mentor new nursing staff on best practices and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care services.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license (LPN) in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in patient care, particularly in long-term care settings.
- Knowledge of medical-surgical nursing practices and coding procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth is preferred.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to lead a team effectively.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring physical stamina, including standing for extended periods and lifting patients as needed.
- Experience in dementia care is a plus.
