LTC Facility Packaging Technician

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Wears designated personal protective equipment and approved respirator when packaging

hazardous medications. Decontaminates and sanitizes surfaces and equipment when

finished packing.

2. Packages and labels medications under supervision of pharmacist.

2. Obtains and counts appropriate medication placing into approved container leaving dispensing container and bulk container for technician double checker/pharmacist verification.

3. Records manufacturer and lot number on prescriptions.

4. Assembles list of medications needing ordered for the Purchasing department

5. Informs pharmacist when discrepancies are found or decisions need to be made

6. Totes and uses Delivery Dashboard and Sorter View to find items needed for assigned

lane

7. Check and respond promptly to e-mail requests that pertain to current delivery.

8. Checks delivery sheet vs. medications sent to verify that all meds are being sent to correct facility.

9. Empties driver returns lockers and returns/transfers ice packs to freezers

10. Performs additional purchasing and inventory control activities as directed by supervisor.

11. Keeps pharmacy area neat, clean, and stocked with supplies during and near end of shift.

12. Performs other duties as required by supervisor.

13. Performs monthly expiration date check for assigned inventory shelves.

14. Maintains a neat and clean personal appearance.

15. Maintains the confidentiality of all patient and company information.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Registered Pharmacy Technician or Technician Trainee with the state of PA

Experience/Knowledge:

* High degree of accuracy for detail work

* Ability to organize one's own work

* Reliability and Honesty

Physical Requirements:

In an 8 hour day the employee:

A. May lift/carry 0-20 lbs frequently

B. Stands/walks 100% of the time

C. Sits 0% of the time

D. Drives a car/truck 0% of the time
