About the Role
We are seeking a ML Data Engineer to work at the intersection of data engineering and applied machine learning. You will help process and transform complex multimedia data (audio, video, sensor) into high-quality datasets suitable for ML research and workflows. The ideal candidate is hands-on, experienced in building robust data pipelines, and able to collaborate closely with ML researchers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data-processing pipelines for large multimedia and sensor datasets.
• Gather and interpret processing requirements from stakeholders, translating them into practical technical solutions.
• Perform data-processing operations including mathematical transformations, filtering, feature extraction, synchronization, and inference through ML models.
• Interface with internal tooling to prepare raw data for ML workflows, including validation, transformation, and QA.
• Collaborate with ML researchers to integrate prototypes into production pipelines.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and relevant standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in ML or data engineering, or equivalent education/experience.
• Strong Python programming skills, including common ML/data libraries (numpy, scipy, pandas).
• Proficiency in Linux and shell scripting.
• Working knowledge of audio, image, and video formats.
• Understanding of how data quality impacts ML training outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PyTorch or other Python ML frameworks.
• Experience with relational, graph, or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with REST APIs for data interactions.
• Experience in a research environment.
• Strong mathematical background.

Pay Range
Pay Rate: $50 - $60/HR
