About the Role

They are hiring a Machine Learning / AI Engineer to design, prototype, and ship machine learning systems with a strong focus on large language model (LLM) workflows, real-world evaluation, and deployment readiness. This is a hands-on engineering role (not research-focused) where you’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to bring powerful AI into real student experiences.

Location: On-site, Berkeley, CA
Experience Level: 0–2 years
Type: Full-time, in-office
Compensation: Top-of-market cash with meaningful equity (0.1–0.3%)

Responsibilities

• Build, scale, and own ML/AI systems.

• Design evaluation pipelines and apply them to iteratively improve performance.

• Collaborate cross-functionally to ship student-facing ML features.

• Drive high-quality, high-speed execution in a startup environment

Requirements

• 0–2 years of professional ML engineering experience, ideally in product-facing roles.

• Strong machine learning and software engineering skills.

• Proficiency with Python and frameworks such as FastAPI or Django, plus experience with Postgres.

• Hands-on experience with LLMs: orchestration, context management, evaluation, and fine-tuning.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Passion for building impactful products.
