Core Roles and Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance: Performing scheduled inspections, lubrication, and adjustments on machinery to prevent breakdowns, as noted by Workable.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnosing malfunctions through observation or diagnostic tools and repairing or replacing broken parts, according to Betterteam.
- Installation & Setup: Assembling and installing new machinery and equipment in production lines.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all machinery operates within safety guidelines, maintaining a clean work environment, and using personal protective equipment.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate maintenance logs, reports, and records, often using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Technical Support: Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals, notes Spotterful.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Tool Proficiency: Experience with hand tools, power tools, hoists, and precision measuring instruments, says the Bureau of Labor Statistics (.gov).
- Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly diagnose issues and implement solutions to minimize production downtime.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy equipment, and work in varied environments.
