Machine Operator - Level 1

Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Machine Operator - Level 1 to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating various machining equipment to produce high-quality fasteners and components. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in precision manufacturing while contributing to products that meet rigorous industry standards.

The Machine Operator I is responsible for producing quality parts by operating production equipment in accordance with established procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards. This role supports the organization’s compliance with AS9100, CMMC 2.0, NIST SP 800‑171, DFARS 252.204‑7012, and ITAR (22 CFR 120–130) by following approved procedures for data handling, documentation accuracy, and secure operational practices. The position requires attention to detail, adherence to instructions, and commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Production & Quality

  • Manufacture quality products according to specifications and work instructions.
  • Follow procedures for starting, stopping, and inspecting materials and work in process.
  • Inspect and measure workpieces to ensure surfaces and dimensions meet specifications.
  • Remove finished workpieces and segregate defective parts.
  • Make basic machine adjustments under supervision.
  • Complete work according to departmental schedules.
  • Maintain accurate job and production records.

2. Safety & Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety and health regulations.
  • Report unsafe conditions or equipment issues immediately.

3. Compliance Responsibilities (AS9100 / CMMC / ITAR)

  • Follow all company policies related to cybersecurity, export controls, quality, safety, and data integrity.
  • Protect sensitive information by using only authorized systems and following secure handling practices.
  • Maintain accurate and complete production documentation in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
  • Report any suspected cybersecurity or export‑control concerns to supervision.
  • Complete required compliance training (CMMC, ITAR, AS9100) as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask and operate multiple machines with attention to detail.
  • Basic shop math skills.
  • Ability to take direction from others.
  • Ability to perform close visual work.
  • Ability to lift, with assistance, up to 50 lbs.
  • U.S. person status may be required depending on ITAR access.

Experience

  • Prior experience operating manufacturing machinery such as CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, centerless grinders, drilling machines, or thread rollers is preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates
  • Basic knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and mechanical principles
  • Familiarity with hand tools, tooling setups, and fabrication techniques in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations related to measurements and dimensions
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality inspection using micrometers and other precision measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of safety procedures involving cranes, forklifts (certification preferred), and electrical discharge machining is a plus

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Work may involve access to secure or restricted areas.
  • Must follow all facility security, safety, and compliance protocols.

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
