Position Summary: Responsible for set-up and operation on a variety of woodworking machines.
Position Responsibilities:

Operator will be responsible for a variety of machines including hand router, hand shaper, profile, and buck shaper.

Operator should be knowledgeable on setup, operation, and maintenance of these machines.

Monitor operation of machines and make adjustments to correct problems and ensure conformance to specifications.

Set up, program, operate, or tend computerized or manual woodworking machines, such as drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, or wood-nailing machines.

Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality, maintenance and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.

Responsible for keeping equipment and work are clean and orderly and perform basic preventive maintenance functions on equipment. Uses LOTO 9lock out/tag out) to de-energize equipment prior to performing any maintenance or repair service.

Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety Environmental Regulations.

Maintains work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety measures.

Wear required safety glasses and work shoes; works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor.

Performs other duties as required by Supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience:

English required for reading tickets and instructions.

Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculation and use basic hand held measuring tools.

Operation Monitoring — Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
Problem Sensitivity — Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
Physical demands and work environment:
Lift / Carry: Frequently lifting 35 – 50 lbs. onto and off work station; occasionally lifting in excess of 50 lbs.; team lift greater weights.-
Standing/Walking/Sitting: Must be able to stand and walk consistently during the 8+ hour day.
Reach / Handle: Repetitive use of hands required-
Fingering or Manual Dexterity: The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.

Environment: Indoors, controlled airflow, depending on building may or may not be air conditioned. Exposure to dust and loud noise for prolonged period of time.

Vision: The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Near Acuity: Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for precision.
