Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Machine Shop Helper to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will assist skilled machinists and technicians in preparing materials, setting up equipment, and maintaining a safe and efficient machining environment. Your contributions will support the production of precision components and assemblies, ensuring quality standards are met while fostering a collaborative and energetic workplace. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills in machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup and operation of CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and other machining equipment under supervision
- Prepare raw materials by measuring, cutting, and organizing tooling and supplies using hand tools and power tools
- Support the calibration and maintenance of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate fabrication
- Help with welding tasks including MIG welding to assemble or repair parts as needed
- Operate forklifts safely to move materials within the warehouse or shop floor
- Assist in quality control checks by inspecting parts with micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments to meet specifications
- Support fabrication activities using press brake machines, fabrication tools, and tooling equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment adhering to safety standards in manufacturing settings
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency
Skills
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings with GD&T understanding
- Experience with CNC programming, CAM programming, or CNC operation is highly desirable
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and machining techniques
- Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively
- Familiarity with welding techniques including MIG welding; certification is a plus
- Competence in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and micrometers for quality assurance
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and blueprint interpretation
- Experience with forklift operation; certification preferred but not required
- Understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is advantageous
- Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD software for part design or assembly review is beneficial
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment in a fast-paced manufacturing setting

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
