Machinist / CNC Programmer II

LOCATION
On-site in Ontario, NY
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
Full-Time Hourly
Full-time, hourly employees are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Overtime, evenings, and weekends may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of their position and meet business and operational demands.
The standard workweek is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
POSITION SUMMARY
Machinist II/CNC Programmer II is responsible for the fabrication of parts and tooling that meets customers’ expectations. They will do this by utilizing the companies CNC lathes, CNC mills and other available CNC equipment along with conventional equipment. They should have good mechanical aptitude and concentrated attention to each job, so as not to damage tools, machines or make mistakes on jobs. They should be an example of the performance of essential duties and responsibilities. They should have multiple years of on-the-job experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reads and creates prints, drawings and sketches
    • Accurately interprets Prints, Drawings and Models recognizing symbols and tolerances.
    • Math skills to interpret prints.
  • Run Jobs efficiently
    • Know how to order tools and materials.
    • Be able to analyze a job to determine a logical way of estimating and making it.
    • Have a good understanding of what tools are needed to make a part and how to utilize them.
    • Be able to use Cam terminal or controllers to program CNC equipment.
    • Be able to use MasterCam to call up/create geometry and or models and toolpaths.
    • Be able to make proper adjustments and edits to produce parts that are within tolerance.
    • Be able to use Skills and Knowledge to produce parts with minimal supervision but if ever not sure of something always feel free to ask!
    • Be able to train coworkers in the safe and efficient operation of areas machines.
    • Be a resource for engineers as to how parts may be manufactured.
  • Be on time and in regular attendance
    • Be to work on time.
    • Notify someone in area if you are going to be late or absent before start time.
    • Schedule vacation days 24 hours in advance (unless true emergency).
    • Work steadily throughout the day.
  • Maintain good customer / coworker relations
    • Treat others with respect, interfacing them in a courteous manner.
    • Communicate effectively so that no details of a job are missed.
    • Be willing to work short notice overtime to meet customers’ needs.
    • Be sensitive to changing priorities and switch jobs to meet needs.
    • Individuals should be able to follow work instructions to make quality parts.
  • Keep a neat work area / Follow established safety practice
    • Properly care for equipment
    • Daily clean off machines used, brushing them off and wiping them down.
    • Daily sweep up surrounding work area (mop as necessary)
    • Always wear safety glasses, use guards and any PPE (personal protective equipment when needed.
  • Abide by company rules and policies
    • To work in the shop area unless required to work elsewhere. (if working out of the area just communicate).
    • Keep breaks and lunch times within limits
    • Take care of personal business on personal time. (Phone use, computer use, personal government jobs. Etc.) Emergencies being the exception.
  • Keep a record of all time worked
    • Accurately record time daily using companies time tracking system
  • Approach to work
    • Take initiative, if waiting for someone find something productive to do, (sweep, wipe down benches / machines.)
    • Manage time effectively (keeping quality in mind)
    • Seek ways to improve jobs.
    • Engage in personal job development and training
