Machinist / Maintenance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Machinist / Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating machining equipment and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and facility systems. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and supports continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Machining Duties

- Set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC machining equipment (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders).

- Fabricate, repair, and modify machine parts and tooling according to specifications and blueprints.

- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and job orders to determine machining requirements.

- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure quality standards.

- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Maintenance Duties

- Perform routine preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

- Troubleshoot and repair machinery breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

- Conduct inspections of equipment and facilities to identify potential issues.

- Replace or repair defective parts such as motors, bearings, belts, and control systems.

- Assist in installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment.

Safety & Compliance

- Adhere to company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.

- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

- Participate in safety training and report hazards promptly.

Continuous Improvement

- Identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency and reliability.

- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.

- 3+ years of experience in machining and/or industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment.

- Experience with CNC programming and troubleshooting is a plus.

Technical Skills

- Strong knowledge of machining practices and maintenance techniques.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.

- Familiarity with PLC systems, electrical circuits, and mechanical systems.

- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

Soft Skills

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Attention to detail with a focus on quality and precision.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Good communication and time management skills.

Education and Experience:

- Certification in Industrial Automation or a related discipline preferred

- Experience with robotics and motion control systems.

- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and IoT integration.

- Minimum 1 year proven experience in similar roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software/tools.

- Must be a self-starter and driven with the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy

Essential Functions:

- Physical

- Requires ability to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at waist, and climb ladders and/or equipment.

- Maximum unassisted lift – 50 lbs. Average lift less than 25 lbs.

Work Environment

- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, forklifts, and overhead cranes.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and requires hearing protection at all times.

- Hard hats, safety shoes, gloves and eye protection are also always required.

- Temperature environment 20 degrees to 110 degrees.

Pay: $25.66 - $30.90 per hour
