Job Overview
Women's Wellness Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated MA/CNA to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to the doctors and assist during OB/Gyn examinations, ensuring their comfort and well-being. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Medical Histories: Gather information about a patient’s health, including past illnesses, medications, and family history.
- Vital Signs: Record a patient’s blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and other vital signs.
- Venipuncture: Ability to perform, or learn to draw lab work on our patients.
- Preparing patients for exams: Prepare patients for physical exams and procedures by explaining the process and answering any questions.
- Assisting with procedures: Assist physicians with procedures, such as pelvic exams, Pap Smears, etc.
- Performing routine laboratory tests: Assist in the performance of tests, such as pregnancy or sexually transmitted infection (STI).
- Maintaining patient records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, test results, and treatment plans.
- Scheduling appointments: Schedule appointments for patients correctly and ensure that they are seen promptly.
- Managing patient flow: Help to manage patient flow, ensuring that patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner.
- Answering patient inquiries: Answer patient inquiries and provide information about the practice and its services.
- Administering medications: Administer medications, injections and vaccines as needed.
- Communication: Relay messages between patients, front office staff, and providers. Coordinating hospital admissions when needed.
- Referrals: Submitting referrals at the doctor’s request.
- Insurance: Obtain insurance prior authorization on any applicable medications, devices, etc.
- Prior Authorization: Ensure there is prior authorization before the patient’s appointment.
- Handling sensitive information: Medical assistants in OB/GYN settings deal with sensitive information, such as a patient’s medical history and sexual health. They must maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally and discreetly.
- Providing emotional support: Medical assistants may be called upon to provide emotional support to patients facing difficult gynecological conditions, such as infertility, menopause, or cancer.
