Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Magento 2 Developer to take full ownership of our e-commerce platform, covering both backend functionality and frontend presentation. This role requires someone who understands the full Magento ecosystem, can customise core features, optimise performance, and ensure the site delivers a smooth, well-designed user experience. You will be responsible for implementing new modules, resolving technical issues, improving the storefront design, and ensuring the platform runs efficiently across all operational requirements.

While senior developers are preferred, strong mid-level candidates with solid Magento 2 experience and the ability to manage the entire system independently are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, customise, and maintain Magento 2 modules, themes, and extensions.
• Own both backend logic and frontend styling, ensuring a robust and polished e-commerce experience.
• Build and customise responsive Magento 2 themes with excellent UX and UI quality.
• Optimise website performance, caching, indexing, and page load speeds.
• Implement new features, payment methods, shipping integrations, product types, and catalogue enhancements.
• Manage third-party integrations, APIs, and external services.
• Oversee code quality, module stability, and compatibility across updates.
• Troubleshoot issues across the full stack (server, Magento core, extensions, frontend).
• Collaborate with internal teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure the platform is secure, scalable, and compliant with best practices.
• Handle deployment processes, version control, and environment management (staging/production).
• Continuously improve store usability, conversion, SEO fundamentals, and frontend performance.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Magento 2 development (3+ years preferred).
• Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Knockout.js.
• Solid understanding of Magento 2 architecture, dependency injection, EAV, plugins, observers, and module development.
• Proven ability to customise and build Magento 2 themes from scratch.
• Strong frontend skills for layout, styling, responsiveness, and UX improvements.
• Experience integrating APIs, payment gateways, ERP systems, and third-party services.
• Good understanding of caching (Redis, Varnish), indexing, and performance tuning.
• Experience with version control (Git) and deployment workflows.
• Ability to work independently and manage the entire e-commerce platform end-to-end.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
• Experience with Linux server optimisation, Nginx/Apache tuning, or DevOps workflows.
• Understanding of SEO technical best practices for Magento.
