Mainframe Modernization developer

Role: Mainframe Modernization developer

Location: Onsite – Sacramento, CA

Duration: 6 to 12 Months

Client: IBM/State of CA

Required skills:
1. Full‑stack testing expertise across UI, API, backend, and healthcare systems, with strong domain knowledge in Medi‑Cal/CAMMIS.
2. Hands‑on experience with Provider/Member Portals, Claims processing, Eligibility & Enrollment, and CAMMIS program workflows.
3. Experience in performance testing using JMeter and working within CI/CD environments.
4. Technical proficiency in SQL, API testing (Postman), mainframe concepts (COBOL/JCL), and cloud testing (AWS/Azure).
5. Skilled in test strategy, planning, defect management, and Agile/Scrum delivery with excellent documentation and communication skills.
6. Proven ability to mentor junior testers and collaborate with cross‑functional teams including developers, BAs, and operations.
7. Sacramento‑based to work onsite in a hybrid model

An Application Developer with Mainframe Modernization expertise is well-versed in the fundamental concepts and technologies related to both mainframe systems and modernization.
They possess the ability to develop codes for both in-place mainframe modernization and migration of mainframe applications to cloud platforms, including z-cloud.
This skillset encompasses support for mainframe migration to other cloud environments. The developer is proficient in various technologies, such as COBOL systems, Java, JSON, APIs, Microservices, SaaS, Edge, Off-premises applications, network security, Kubernetes, DevOps, Db2, CICS, WebSphere, and MQ.

Pay: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour
