Mainframe System Engineer – (Vendor Specific)

Position: Mainframe System Engineer

Experience: 7+ years

Vendor Focus: IBM or Broadcom (CA/Symantec) or BMC

Responsibilities

• Administer and support IBM z/OS mainframe environments.
• Perform system installation, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
• Manage JES2/JES3, RACF security, SMP/E, storage (DFSMS), and TCP/IP.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues.
• Support automation, scheduling, and monitoring tools based on vendor stack.
• Maintain documentation and participate in on-call support as needed.

Required Skills

• Strong experience in z/OS system engineering.
• Hands-on with JES2/JES3, RACF, SMP/E, REXX, TSO/ISPF.
• Experience with one vendor ecosystem (at least one required):
• Vendor Specialization (pick one)
• IBM (Omegamon, Tivoli, NetView, System Automation)
• Broadcom / CA (CA SYSVIEW, CA OPS/MVS, CA7, ACF2/Top Secret)
• BMC (MainView, Control-M, AMI Ops)

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of COBOL/JCL for basic troubleshooting
• Experience with DR/backup and modernization tools (z/OS Connect)
