Job Title: Solar Maintenance Technician
Job Description:

The Solar Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability. This role involves routine preventive maintenance, system diagnostics, and corrective repairs for residential, commercial, or utility-scale solar installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on solar PV systems
  • Inspect panels, inverters, wiring, mounting structures, and electrical components
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults, performance issues, and power losses
  • Conduct electrical testing (voltage, current, insulation resistance)
  • Clean solar panels and remove debris to maximize efficiency
  • Repair or replace faulty components, including inverters, combiner boxes, and cabling
  • Monitor system performance using SCADA or monitoring software
  • Maintain accurate service records, reports, and maintenance logs
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, electrical codes, and company policies
  • Coordinate with engineers, operations teams, and site managers
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls when required

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred)
  • Basic understanding of solar PV systems and electrical principles
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and technical manuals
  • Familiarity with hand tools, testing equipment, and power tools
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in solar energy or electrical systems
  • Experience with inverter manufacturers and monitoring platforms
  • Knowledge of local electrical codes and renewable energy standards
  • Prior experience in solar operations and maintenance
