Maintenance Apprentice

We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Maintenance Apprentice to join our food manufacturing facility. This entry-level role is designed for individuals eager to build skills in mechanical and electrical maintenance, as well as troubleshooting equipment in a fast-paced production environment.
You will work alongside experienced maintenance technicians to help ensure machinery runs safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in performing routine maintenance and repairs on production equipment, packaging lines, conveyors, and facility systems.
- Learn to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and basic PLC issues under the guidance of senior maintenance staff.
- Support preventative maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and parts usage.
- Adhere to all safety, hygiene, and food quality standards set by the company and regulatory bodies.
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and on-the-job learning to build technical knowledge and skills.
- Assist with installations, equipment overhauls, and upgrades as needed.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Education: High School Diploma and or trade related training.
- Strong interest in maintenance, engineering, or manufacturing operations.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn about tools, equipment, and systems.
- Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively.
- Must be reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work in a physically demanding environment (standing, lifting, climbing). Ability to independently manage daily work assignments and ensure follow-up to completion.
- Possess good interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with multiple operational systems such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Pneumatics, Compressors, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This job operates both in an office setting and production facility environment. The production environment may be cold, wet, and/or warm.
- The position at times requires the use of ladders, perform work on the roof of the building, operate a man lift and/or forklift.
- Use of standard PPE (hairnets, safety glasses and beard nets, masks and shields).

Schedule
- 8–10-hour shifts

Day shift, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend availability as needed
