Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities maintenance and possess a variety of technical skills. This role involves supporting the maintenance department in ensuring that all equipment and facilities are operating efficiently and safely. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the functionality of our operations while providing excellent customer service.

Duties

  • Assist in ensuring that maintenance schedules are prepared and followed.
  • Always follow all health and safety procedures, reporting any unsafe conditions to the Maintenance Supervisor immediately.
  • Take and report stock of all maintenance related supplies and tools at all applicable stations.
  • Assist in maintaining the grounds, facility, and equipment by using safe and appropriate procedures and schedules.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
  • Report all accidents/incidents with urgency and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the maintenance of all facility equipment and tools.
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with colleagues.
  • Attend all maintenance related trainings as well as necessary in-service training programs.
  • Make recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor to help improve processes and policies in the department.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and ensure resident interactions are professional and appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent highly preferred.
  • Experience in an applicable trade skill preferred.
  • Ability to interact with residents, staff, and guests with tact and professionalism.
  • Learn and maintain working knowledge of applicable laws and standards relating to health and safety standards impacting the department.
  • Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and an independent manner.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish this job.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and multi-tasking skills required.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Possess stellar communication skills, demonstrating patience, empathy, and care for residents and their families.
  • Related administrative experience at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
  • Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam, if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
