Maintenance Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Maintenance Assistant to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in facilities maintenance, manufacturing, or residential painting. The ideal candidate will possess technical skills in electrical systems, mechanical knowledge, and schematics, along with leadership and customer service abilities. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will support the upkeep and repair of our facilities and equipment, ensuring smooth operations across various departments.

Duties

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment, facilities, and systems
• Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and schematics to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Conduct welding and electrical work as needed, adhering to safety standards
• Use tools such as ohmmeters to diagnose electrical problems
• Assist with residential painting projects when required
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Supervise junior staff or contractors during maintenance tasks when applicable
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and facility regulations
• Support manufacturing operations by maintaining machinery and infrastructure
• Provide excellent customer service to internal teams and external clients when necessary

Experience

• Proven experience in facilities maintenance, manufacturing, or related fields
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical wiring, schematics, and troubleshooting techniques
• Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and CMMS software
• Skilled in welding, electrical work, and residential painting is preferred
• Familiarity with using ohmmeters and other diagnostic tools for electrical testing
• Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership capabilities
• Strong communication skills in English for effective teamwork and reporting
• Ability to interpret technical schematics and mechanical drawings
• Prior experience in customer service within a maintenance or facilities environment is advantageous

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
