The Maintenance Assistant supports the property management and maintenance team in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning community. This role focuses on routine upkeep, unit turns, and general maintenance support tasks to ensure all common areas and residential units meet company standards.
Responsibilities
- Empty trash and dispose of waste from common areas and residential units
- Remove and clear out debris, furniture, and garbage from vacant units during turnovers
- Replace furnace filters on a scheduled basis
- Replace light bulbs, batteries, and minor fixtures as needed
- Clean common areas including hallways, stairwells, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces
- Assist with apartment unit turns, including basic cleaning and preparation for new residents
- Perform minor repairs such as tightening hardware, patching small holes, and basic touch-ups
- Maintain exterior grounds including litter pickup, sweeping, and basic landscaping assistance
- Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to the maintenance supervisor promptly
- Assist with inventory and organization of maintenance supplies and equipment
- Support preventative maintenance tasks and inspections
- Assist in snow removal, salting, and seasonal property upkeep
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of general maintenance and cleaning practices preferred
- Ability to use basic hand tools and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license preferred
Compensation$16 - $20 hourly
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
