Position Summary

The Maintenance Coordinator ensures the proper upkeep, functionality, and safety of YWCA Utah’s facilities and grounds. This role coordinates day-to-day maintenance needs across multiple buildings, performs routine repairs, oversees vendor work, and helps maintain compliance with health, safety, and building codes. The Maintenance Coordinator works closely with program staff and the facilities team to create a safe and supportive environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role will directly support the YWCA Utah mission as stated above.


Schedule

Full-time (36 hours), Monday–Friday, with some evenings, weekends, and on-call coverage as needed. Four Nine-hour workdays with one (1) weekday off per week to be scheduled.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Maintenance Techs, including scheduling and completing weekly employee one-on-one meetings.
  • Utilize CMMS (Limble) to coordinate work orders and track progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Create procedures, processes, and practices that promote excellence, accountability, and integrity in YWCA Facility/Operations services.
  • Work with staff to develop annual goals and objectives, as well as methods for tracking outputs and measuring program outcomes.
  • Preventative Maintenance program planning, scheduling, and completion
  • Perform basic repairs (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general upkeep).
  • Schedule, monitor, and evaluate work performed by external vendors and contractors.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Support capital projects and renovations as directed by the Director of Facilities.
  • Help develop the annual department budget, as requested, and monitor/track expenditures regularly to remain within budgetary goals.
  • Keep any necessary records and generate reports as needed on departmental activities.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance issues and participate in on-call rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, building codes, and other applicable regulations.
  • Assist with inventory, procurement, and safe storage of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Promote teamwork within the program and constructive collaboration with other YWCA departments, programs, staff, and supervisors in order to ensure an integrated, focused continuum of services.
  • Promote a healthy work environment.
  • Maintain thorough current knowledge of YWCA personnel policies and procedures and implement these policies in a fair and consistent way.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities; establish clear performance expectations and reasonable work plans; conduct performance evaluations; articulate and model high professional and ethical standards.
  • Provide staff with the training, support, and opportunities needed to do their jobs successfully and grow professionally.
  • Attend supervisory meetings, management team meetings, all-staff meetings, and any other trainings or meetings requested by supervisor.
  • Articulate and promote high ethical and professional standards in all YWCA programs, activities, and services, and with all agency publics.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff, other key publics, and any other organization and individuals important to the success of the YWCA’s work.
  • Partner with staff to minimize disruption of services during repairs or projects.
  • Uphold YWCA Utah’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practices.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of hands-on facility maintenance, building operations, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of building systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with work order systems.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physical maintenance tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background screening.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a nonprofit, residential, or multi-building environment.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and sensitivity to diverse populations.
  • Certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related trade.

Physical/Sensory Demands

This position benefits as part of the larger YWCA Utah work culture as a whole. The position requires both independence and reliance on teamwork between various departments. This position requires frequent movement across campus buildings, use of tools and equipment, occasional exposure to varying weather conditions, occasionally lift 50lbs; and perform repetitive wrist and hand and/or finger movement. Safety equipment and training are provided.
