Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on all electrical equipment and systems, including lighting, wiring, circuits, generators, and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions and breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize disruption to hospital operations and patient care.
- Install new electrical systems, wiring, and fixtures, ensuring all work complies with national and local electrical codes and hospital safety standards.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using testing devices such as voltmeters, ammeters, and oscilloscopes, and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls, which may include participating in an on-call rotation outside of normal hours.
- Driving and Transportation Duties:
- Provide safe and timely transportation for hospital staff, patients (if necessary), and visitors as required by management.
- Transport equipment, materials, supplies, and documentation between different hospital buildings or to off-site locations.
- Ensure all hospital vehicles are maintained in good working order, including conducting routine checks (e.g., oil, filters, tires), maintaining cleanliness, and scheduling necessary repairs with external vendors.
- Maintain accurate log books and records of all journeys, maintenance, and fuel consumption for hospital vehicles.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.
- General Duties and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all electrical maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or other required logs.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to ensure integrated facility maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital safety policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NABH guidelines, HTMs).
- Assist with other general maintenance or facility tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Director of Plant Operations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training/certification in electrical maintenance is strongly preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in electrical maintenance, preferably within a hospital or large facility environment. Prior professional driving experience is also required.
- Licenses: Must possess a valid, clean driver's license. An electrician's license or certification may be required depending on local regulations.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and relevant safety codes (NEC, local codes).
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools and electrical testing instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Basic knowledge of automobile systems and maintenance.
