Qualifications:
- ITI/ITC/Diploma in Electrical Trade or equivalent qualification.
- Wireman / Electrician license preferred
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in electrical maintenance; experience in an educational institution is an advantage.
- Knowledge of electrical safety codes, wiring standards, and troubleshooting methods.
- Basic skills in plumbing, carpentry, or general maintenance work.
- Ability to work independently and handle emergency situations efficiently.
- Good communication, record-keeping, and coordination skills.
The Electrician will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems within the college campus. In addition to core electrical duties, the role includes general maintenance support across campus buildings, laboratories, hostels, and common areas.
Electrical Duties
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, panels, and control equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, and areas requiring adjustment or repair.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues in classrooms, labs, offices, hostels, and outdoor areas.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, statutory norms, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Monitor and maintain UPS, generators, batteries, and solar systems (if applicable).
- Assist during campus events with temporary wiring, lighting arrangements, and sound connections.
General Maintenance Responsibilities
- Attend to minor plumbing, carpentry and building repair works as needed.
- Support maintenance of classroom furniture, fixtures, signboards, and campus assets.
- Assist in upkeep of fire safety equipment, including extinguishers and emergency lighting.
- Coordinate with external service technicians for specialized repairs.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of maintenance tools, workshop, and storage areas.
Operational & Administrative Tasks
- Maintain logs of electrical maintenance activities, breakdown reports, and material consumption.
- Report urgent issues to the Maintenance Officer promptly and provide timely updates.
- Monitor stock levels of electrical consumables and request replenishment as required.
- Ensure minimal disturbance to academic schedules while carrying out repair works.
- Adhere to college policies, safety protocols, and preventive maintenance routines.
