Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of Electrical Systems:
- Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on the hospital’s electrical systems and components, including wiring, transformers, circuit breakers, and electrical panels.
- Ensure the electrical supply systems (including backup generators and uninterruptible power supplies) are operational and well-maintained.
- Monitor and maintain electrical equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Emergency Power Systems:
- Oversee and maintain emergency backup power systems, such as generators, to ensure they are ready to function in the event of a power outage.
- Conduct regular testing of emergency lighting and backup power systems to confirm their reliability during power failures.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Quickly diagnose electrical faults and issues, especially in critical areas such as operating rooms, patient care units, and medical equipment rooms.
- Provide timely and effective solutions for electrical failures and disruptions, minimizing downtime and ensuring safety.
- Installation and Upgrades:
- Assist with the installation of new electrical equipment, wiring, and lighting systems when required.
- Upgrade and enhance existing electrical infrastructure to meet the hospital's evolving needs and technological advancements.
- Ensure all electrical work adheres to hospital standards, health, and safety regulations.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure that all electrical work complies with local building codes, national safety standards, and hospital-specific protocols.
- Maintain safety standards in all electrical work, including using appropriate protective equipment and ensuring that all electrical installations are safe for both staff and patients.
- Conduct regular safety audits to identify potential risks and prevent electrical hazards.
- Energy Efficiency and Cost Control:
- Monitor energy consumption within the hospital and recommend improvements to reduce energy costs while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Implement energy-saving measures where possible, such as using LED lighting and upgrading to energy-efficient systems.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the hospital's energy management strategy.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other departments, including maintenance, engineering, and hospital administration, to coordinate electrical requirements and resolve issues.
- Provide support for the installation and maintenance of medical equipment that requires specialized electrical setups.
- Maintain effective communication with the hospital staff and inform them of any electrical shutdowns, system upgrades, or maintenance schedules.
- Record Keeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Document any repairs and improvements made to the hospital's electrical infrastructure.
- Report on electrical system performance and highlight any issues to senior management.
- Training and Supervision:
- Supervise and train junior electrical staff or maintenance personnel when necessary.
- Provide training to hospital staff on electrical safety and proper use of electrical equipment.
