Role Overview
Maintenance Engineer role involves installation, troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, and automation support for machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of CNC and automated machines (such as HOMAG), PLC troubleshooting, and a proven ability to ensure machine uptime in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and calibrate machines, drives, and mechanical/electrical components as per OEM standards.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and software issues in semi-automatic and fully automated machines.
- Develop and support PLC programming for machine automation and process improvement if required.
- Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
- Maintain machine history records, calibration logs, and preventive maintenance charts.
- Conduct routine inspections and safety checks to ensure smooth and safe operations.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
- Manage spare parts inventory, raise requisitions, and liaise with suppliers for procurement.
- Lead and guide maintenance technicians, ensuring work is carried out efficiently and safely.
- Prepare detailed reports on maintenance activities, inspections, and machine performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and reliability.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering field.
- 3–6 years of proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer, preferably in furniture, woodworking, or metalworking manufacturing industries.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machines (HOMAG or similar).
- Strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting/programming and automation systems.
- Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical circuits.
- Ability to manage preventive maintenance programs and reduce MTTR/MTBR.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Team management or supervisory experience will be an added advantage.
