Key responsibilities
- Maintenance and repair: Perform routine and emergency maintenance on machinery and equipment to keep it running efficiently and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical issues by identifying and fixing faults in systems like pipework.
- Fabrication and assembly: Cut, file, drill, and fit components according to technical drawings and specifications. This may involve welding, soldering, or other joining methods.
- Inspections and safety: Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure it is operating safely and in compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Record keeping: Maintain accurate logs and records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Collaboration: Work with production teams to optimize machine performance and assist in the installation of new machinery.
Required skills and knowledge
- Technical skills: Proficiency with hand tools, measuring instruments, and machinery like grinders, drills, and welding equipment.
- Blueprint interpretation: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Material knowledge: Understanding of the properties of different materials, especially metals.
- Safety awareness: Strong knowledge of safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and find timely solutions.
