Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical Engineer)

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Shift Maintenance Fitter to join our on-site engineering team at Duynie Wrexham. This is a hands-on role where you’ll provide front line engineering support across the site, playing a critical part in maintaining plant reliability, safety, and performance.

This role is 3 weekly rotating shifts covering Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line engineering support to plant and operations
  • Respond to and prioritise breakdowns during shift to minimise downtime
  • Carry out logical fault finding and repair on plant equipment including motors, gearboxes, pumps, and conveyors
  • Complete preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Undertake bearing and shaft replacement, alignment, and lubrication activities
  • Carry out welding and fabrication tasks where required
  • Accurately record all maintenance activities using the site CMMS
  • Complete PM and TPM schedules efficiently
  • Ensure clear escalation of unresolved issues
  • Deliver clear, effective handover between shifts
  • Adhere strictly to health & safety policies, safe systems of work, permits, and LOTOTO procedures

Qualifications (Essential)

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Engineering, or equivalent
  • City & Guilds qualification, or
  • Apprenticeship served

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Experience working on light, medium, and heavy plant machinery
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems knowledge
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Bearing, shaft, and drive system experience
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and components
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage breakdowns effectively
  • Strong commitment to health & safety
  • Clear communication and escalation skills
  • Confident delivering shift handovers
  • Proactive, organised, and able to work independently or as part of a team
