Key responsibilities
- Assisting skilled staff: Handing tools, materials, and supplies to technicians, and holding parts or equipment during repairs.
- Basic repairs: Performing simple repairs and maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, fixing drywall, or applying protective coverings.
- Cleaning and upkeep: Keeping work areas, machines, and tools clean. This can include debris removal and waste collection.
- Material handling: Moving materials, equipment, and supplies manually or using equipment like forklifts and scissor lifts.
- Preventative maintenance: Assisting with lubrication of equipment and performing routine inspections.
Qualifications and skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
- Work ethic: A strong and reliable work ethic is essential.
- Physical ability: Must be able to perform manual labor, which may include lifting over 50 pounds regularly.
- Mechanical aptitude: Having basic mechanical skills is beneficial, and experience is a plus.
- Safety conscious: Following proper safety procedures and using personal protective equipment (PPE) is crucial.
