Job Title: Maintenance II-Groundskeeper

Reports To: Director of Facilities & Security

Department: Facilities Department

Assigned Building: District-wide

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain the condition and appearance of lawns, grounds, and practice fields by properly mowing, trimming, and removing grass clipping from walkways and drives.
• Lay out and mark playing fields – assist with event set-up and tear-down.
• Prepare and maintain soil to plant flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs.
• Trim, prune, and stake trees and shrubs to promote growth and improve appearance.
• Water lawns, flower beds, athletic fields, and new trees as needed.
• Keep facilities and surrounding areas free from trash, litter, debris, and weeds.
• Collect and dispose of leaves, debris, and refuse from grounds and roadways.
• Repair and install outdoor bleachers, benches, signs, and fences.
• Complete snow and ice removal tasks throughout the district including plowing, shoveling, sweeping, and salting.
• Clean and maintain all vehicles, equipment, and materials.
• Follow all applicable safety guidelines and procedures.
• Serve as a floating custodian throughout the district to cover for head custodian vacancies.
• Serve as substitute bus driver for the corporation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities & Security.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL class B license.
• Ability to use technology to communicate and manage workload through CMMS software.
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Previous landscaping experience preferred.
• On-the-job training offered.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneeling.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds or more.
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
• Must be able to see up close, at a distance, peripherals, and depth perception.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $29.33 per hour
